Hello We are being asked to sign a conditional lien release prior to receiving payment. Before signing i just wanted to verify that it is common practice to sign this type of document in a lien/payment dispute. Thanks

Good morning. It is common practice to sign a lien release. What matters are the terms of the release and the facts of the dispute. You should get legal advice on this before you sign to protect your rights or you may face some unpleasant consequences depending on your matter.
Mr. Murillo is correct..this is common practice. However the terms and conditions in releases vary quite a bit, you need to know exactly what you are releasing and under what conditions. I would advise you have an attorney review it before you sign if you have any questions whatsoever.

If the lien release is accurate, yes it is standard to sign. Make sure that you are only signing for the amount that you are getting paid and that your billings are up to date.
