Crane mobilzation charges?

ColoradoConstruction Contract

Should crane rental fees start upon on-site crane build or upon mobilization? Do we pay for the crane during transportation and erection or should we only start paying when the crane is ready to lift? We are paying a set mobilization cost. Thank you.

Ultimately, who's responsible for crane mobilization charges should come down to what's in the contract. If the contract requires the party renting the crane to pay for mobilization, then the crane rental company won't be responsible. If the contract states that the party renting the crane only has to pay after the crane is set up and operating, then those payment terms will apply. It wouldn't be shocking to hear that the contract went either way, but there's typically some type of delivery fee involved - whether that's a flat fee or done by transferring the cost of delivery.
