New York

In order to file a lien on a house for work completed do I need some sort of judgement or do I just head to the county clerks office and assign an amount and file the paperwork? Never happened to us before thanks

You need a notice of Mechanics lien, the from must meet all of the statutory requirements, and must be served upon the home owner by certified mail, and filed with the county clerk. An affidavit of service of the notice of lien, must also be filed with the county clerk.

Paper work:

1. Lien release form from the owner of the property.

2. A copy of the lien holder’s driver’s license or government-issued ID card.

3. A copy of the lien holder’s most recent tax return and a copy of the lien holder's most recent bank statement and a copy of the lien holder's most recent pay stub, if available.

4. If applicable, a declaration that the person signing is authorized to sign on behalf of a corporation or limited liability company (LLC).

You can always contact the IvoryResearch company, whe re they will help you complete all the necessary documents.
