The deadline to file a New York mechanics lien depends on the type of project. The general rule is that a lien claim must be filed within 8 months from completion of the contract or the last date labor or materials were furnished to the project. However, if the project is a single-family residential property, the deadline to file is reduced to just 4 months from completion of the contract or the last date labor or materials were furnished to the project.
