It's all about timing. The deadline to file a Colorado mechanics lien is 4 months from the last date of furnishing labor or materials to the project. On top of that, you will need to serve a Notice of Intent to Lien (NOI) on the property owner at least 10 days before filing your claim. This should be sent by registered or certified mail with return receipt requested. The notice may be enough to get the ball rolling on your payment.
